Cherry Blue Pet Insurance

Cherry Blue Pet Insurance is one of several pet insurance companies that are owned by the corporation of PetHealth.

PetHealth covers both Canada and the United States, so pets can travel and get medical help in both countries if needed.

Cherry Blue Pet Insurance is run with Don Cherry (a Canadian too!). He believes in PetHealth’s pet health insurance for Cats and Dogs. A portion of your payments will go toward an Annual donation to Rose Cherry home for kids.

When I visited Cherry Blue’s website, it talked a lot about how great PetHealth companies are, but not directly about Cherry Blue Pet insurance. For example the great testimonials on their website are for Pet Care (another Pethealth company) and not Cherry Blue Pet Insurance.

Please Leave a review and it’ll be posted online.

Their Accident insurance (Red Line) is decently priced. Their Accident and Illness (Blue Line) is not as cheap. When I phoned, the company representative suggested that these plans are better for older pets (compared to other Pet health insurance company plans).

The problem with both plans is that they cover only up to a maximum LIFETIME amount. If your dog gets sick and you spend the whole lifetime amount ($10 000 or $20 000) you will not get coverage anymore. Your dog will then have a ‘pre-existing condition’ and so will not be able to get insurance with another Canada pet insurance company. This is probably why they suggest these plans for older pets.

One thing though with these plans is that you can make a big claim one year, and not any claims for other years, and not have to pay for a big plan coverage every year which is pretty good!

If you enrol a young pet and choose a $100 deductible, then you can keep that lower deductible for the entire lifetime of the pet.
• **Price per month- changes very minimally depending on the deductible. The higher the deductible, the lower the monthly fee.
